One step forward, two steps back

Today Darby had a CAT scan and they found she has a pneumothorax
(collection of air or gas in the space surrounding the lungs.) on
the front of her right lung and an abscess in the back of her right
lung. To try and resolve the pneumothorax they are putting in
another drain tube for a total of three tubes coming from the right
lung area. As for the abscess the DR’s and Surgeons are still
thinking it over. They may go in and drain it. Meaning another
surgery or they will wait and see what the new round of antibiotics
will do.
The culture they took during last weeks surgery finally grew something. The bacteria is rare for someone who is healthy and tends to show on people who have lung problems. Darby has never had lung problems so the DR.’s are baffled, and the infectious disease staff are now involved to try and figure this out.
